Pine Bluff business owners and those interested in starting a business have opportunities for workshops and other guidance this August. Here are four upcoming business-related events in chronological order, followed by one additional source of information.

  • Workshop: Finance Your Business
    August 13, 2018 / Monday / 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
    Registration Required

Workshop on major sources of business financing: bootstrapping, loans, grants, and equity. Includes overview of these sources and how to find more information.

  • Seminar: Starting a Business in Arkansas
    August 21, 2018 / Tuesday / 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Seminar on business financing, business plan, business start-up/preplanning, managing a business. Includes legal business structures plus regulations and licensing.

  • Construction and Trade Alliance – Quarterly Meeting
    August 23, 2018 (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m.

According to the Pine Bluff Commercial, the press release provided this information:
Guests include (1) Edward Haddock, District Director of the Arkansas District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration and (2) Gareth C. Hyndman II, Chief Contracting Officer with the Army Contracting Command at Rock Island, Ill., to answer general questions about U.S. government contracting.

Participants will also learn about projects associated with Go Forward Pine Bluff and the new Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library. It is not clear who is presenting these updates.

Participating agencies, according to the press release, are Go Forward Pine Bluff, U.S. Small Business Administration, The Generator and East Harding Construction. However, East Harding Construction may be a private sector business. Also, apparently a contracting office with the U.S. Army is to participate.

  • Workshop: Financial Statements: Focus on Cash Flow
    August 27, 2018 / Monday / 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
    Registration Required

Workshop on requirements for business loan candidates’ re-payment capacity; cash flow and its importance to lenders; and information contained in financial statements and key records to keep.
