The Pine Bluff City Council will meet on Tuesday evening:

At this meeting, the city council is expected to address some of the revitalization recommendations from Go Forward Pine Bluff, the non-profit task force created by the Simmons Foundation. Two key recommendations to be discussed are (1) a master plan for Pine Bluff, including updated city codes and (2) the proposed sales tax. Regarding the sales tax, the council is expected to place three related ordinances on the agenda for their first reading. The first proposed ordinance would designate the five-eighths percent sales tax to be levied if approved by voters; the second would propose a special election to put this proposed sales tax issue up for a vote in a special election; and the third would designate how the resulting tax revenue would be doled out. The February 21 council meeting will have the first of three readings of these ordinances. March 20 is when the council is expected to vote on them.

Pine Bluff’s City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month except for holidays, inclement weather, or other extenuating circumstances such as a called meeting.
The city’s website includes one webpage with contact information for the mayor and other officials and another for council members. The city clerk (contact info on mayor’s webpage) maintains records of ordinances and resolutions passed plus tapes and minutes of council meetings (and other board and commission proceedings). Allow time (probably weeks) for records and videos to be posted online, though; in the meantime, look for follow-up in the newspaper, contact your alderman (council member), or contact the city clerk’s office for access to printed minutes in the office.
